Late colors of Rose hip

Late colors of Rose hip: It’s early morning and the weather is rather dull so on the way to the beach in Blokhus I notice how vividly the Rose hips are coloured and this is today’s photo.

In a few days the leaves will be gone and only the grey stems will be left with the dried red fruits. I like the strong yellow colour and the subtle green from the summer colour – they really stand out in the environment at the moment.

Yellow Iris (Iris pseudacorus) – The Outer Hebrides

The Yellow Iris (Iris pseudacorus) captured on Harris the Outer Hebrides. This was one the first day we spent on Harris after arriving from Isle of Skye in the beginning June. We arrived very early so had a long day we used walking out on the east coast near Scalpay Lighthouse. We saw minke whales just of the Coast and we had some time at the light house where we took these images of the beautiful Yellow Iris with water drops in the old lighthouse garden.

Black & White Spring Squill from Cornwall

Inspired by yesterdays visit to The Mission House on the Hebrides I decided to put a black & white version of the beautiful spring squill.

The “mission house” is a shared business/gallery by Beka and Nikolai Globe. Beka Globe does some most amazing black & white photography while Nikolai shape the clay after the principles of Wabi – Sabi. It is all well contained in the newly renovated and beautiful situated gallery at Finsbay on isle of Harris, Hebrides.
